Kings Langley Vs Kinja Rockets League double header
Game 1- Kings Langley 1 - Kinja Rockets 2.
Game 2 - Kings Langley 0 - Kinja Rockets 4.

Kinja rockets put the disappointment of a penalty shoot out defeat in a cup semi final behind them with 2 good wins in a league double header at a very warm and sunny Kings Langley FC on Saturday morning.
In a friendly match previously the rockets encountered a hard working, physical but very capable Kings Langley team and on this occasion the rockets found themselves up against the exact same thing.
The pitch was in perfect condition but very narrow and a bit shorter than what the rockets are familiar with and with Kings Langley only being able to field 10 players the rockets knew that they were going to have to be patient in order to break down the 2 banks of 4 players to get to and test the goalkeeper.
Kings Langley (KL) won the toss and decided to play with the slight breeze behind them in the 1st half but this had no effect on the rockets who just simply played the ball on the ground and in the 1st minute the rockets were denied a definite penalty when a shot from the very impressive Mia G in midfield was charged down by a defender in the area with the blatant use of a arm but the referee waved play on to all the spectators amusement.
KL seemed happy to sit back and soak up the pressure applied to their rearguard with the hope of creating chances on the counter attack,
Regan, Alex and Audrey all coped well with KL's main threat up front who ran tirelessly through out both games for her team.
KL had obviously planned to stop the leagues top scorer Nicole by putting 1 player on her and her marker followed her every single move, even shadowing her over to the sideline when Nicole was called to the sideline to be given some tactical information !!.
Despite all the possession that the rockets had the grit and determination that KL showed ensured that the scoreline stayed at 0-0 going into the 2nd half but within minutes of the restart the rockets took a well deserved lead, Lillian received a pass in midfield and accelerated away from her marker and as she evaded several challenges she fired a shot goal wards which was blocked and the rockets won a corner,Joya jogged over to take the kick and with the wind being an advantage to the rockets now she curled her corner kick straight into the far corner of the goal past the mass of KL players in the area to put the rockets 1 ahead.
That goal seemed to revitalise the rockets as they began to press the ball at every opportunity, winning several corners and plenty of throw ins and putting KL under all sorts of pressure and the pressure finally took its toll as the rockets doubled their lead, KL won a throw in on the half way line but Alex won possession back and released Joya who in turn slid a beautiful pass between 2 defenders for Nicole to run onto and someone who scores a minimum of 30 goals a season should not be left to face a goalkeeper in a 1 on 1 situation and Nicole does what she does best and beat the keeper to put the rockets 2-0 ahead.
In the final minute of the 2nd half all the KL effort was awarded when they pulled a goal back, a long clearance upfield was brought down by the KL striker on the left wing and as she cut infield she let fly with a shot that appeared to be held up by the wind but the ball ended up in the net after Anna was unfortunate not to push the ball to safety and the 1st game finished 2-1 to the rockets.
The 2nd game was almost a carbon copy of the 1st one, KL being hard to penetrate but the rockets staying focused and determined with Mia G and Lindsey doing very well in midfield, Nicole being a constant menace, Kasey dropping into midfield and laying off passes to runners then joining the attack herself and Joya running rings round players in the final third, KL stayed resolute for a abig chunk of the 1st half of the 2nd game but with 5 minutes remaining the deadlock was broken in spectacular style, Joya received the ball 40 yards from goal and being confronted by a KL player she chipped the ball into Kasey who had pulled out to the right hand side of the KL penalty area, with the ball bouncing the invite was there to hit the ball on the volley which she did and the ball flew past the keeper at the near post.
That goal sent the rockets into halftime in a good mood knowing that all their patience and effort had finally been rewarded and now they could relax and feel free to express themselves in the 2nd half.
Within 3 minutes of the start of the final half the rockets were awarded a penalty after the exact replica of the 1st penalty shout, Nicole had possession of the ball just outside the area and she twisted and turned and with very little effort she hit a fierce shot which again was blocked by an arm but on this occasion the referee awarded the spot kick, Up stepped the super cool team captain Regan to fire into the top corner from 12 yards to double the lead and give Regan the goal that her performance deserved.
Lindsey found herself on the scoresheet with 2 minutes to go when she went on a powerful run through the heart of midfield and skipped past a few robust challenges to curl a beautiful shot into the top left corner to make it 3=0.
3 soon bacame 4 when Kasey got her second of the day after good link up play involving Joya,Nicole,Lindsey and Mia G leaving Kasey with just the keeper to beat which she done easily. Alot of credit goes to KL who played with 10 players and despite having players going down with cramp they still managed to see both games out. Credit to Yul who also insisted with the referee that the player who conceded the penalty should not be sent off which the referee agreed with and used his discretion to ensure that KL didnt go down to 9 and last but not least the parents and supporters of the rockets, It's very pleasing to see so many adults attending games and to hear the encouragement you give not only to your child but others too, keep up the good work.
