The Kinja U8 Girls are the first competitive age group that players become a part of, having graduated from our Kinja Development Centre programme. At the Kinja Development Centre, the training is centred around players working on their individual ability as football players, our U8 Girls is the starting point at which players now are in a team environment, where they play friendly matches against other teams, and begin to understand the very basics of teamwork within a football environment. This is the very start of the second phase of a football players development, which we at Kinja FC call The Development Phase.
What We Focus On
At this age group, the focus is still very much on helping the players improve their technical ability, ensuring that they continue to develop their ability to master their individual control of the ball while develop other basic skills such as passing and receiving the ball.
With the introduction of a team environment and playing friendly matches against other teams, the focus for players is to build an understanding of basic positioning and the basic roles and responsibilities of Goalkeepers, Defenders, Midfielders and Forwards. Players will experience playing in each position to develop the specific skills that are tested at each area on the pitch.
League & Matches
The U8 Girls will play 5-a-side football in the Capital Girls League. Friendly matches will be organised by the Capital Girls League as part of a "group" where each team will be played twice, at a central location provided by the league.
Matches will be played on Saturday mornings.
