Rockets vs St Albans North

St Albans North 0 - Kinja Rockets 5.
Kinja Rockets returned to league action on Saturday morning at a very cold St Albans with a dominant display on a very bumpy, soft and small pitch.
From the kick off the rockets began to press high up the field and forced St Albans to defend very deep and within the 1st 5 minutes Nicole had 2 shots on target blocked by a determined St Albans defence, St Albans goalkeeper was also tested on a few occasions and she was equal to the task but after 10 minutes the rockets made a well deserved breakthrough,
Audrey who started as a right sided defender in a 3-4-1-2 formation received a pass from Regan who then sprayed the ball out wide to Indie who had time to knock the ball forward and look up and see that Nicole had made a run from the back post towards the front post, the cross was inch perfect and Nicole swept the ball home to give the rockets a deserved lead after 10 minutes.
The condition of the pitch really didn't suit both teams as through balls from St Albans midfielders towards their strikers either bobbled to such an extent that they were unable to control the ball or the ball travelled so slowly that the rockets rearguard simply stepped ahead of their opponents to steal the ball and set the rockets forward again.
On 24 minutes the rockets doubled their lead when Alex who was again outstanding on the left side of midfield stormed forward and as she drew a defender to her she simply slipped the ball to Guste who in turn passed the ball sideways to Lillian who had ghosted in from the right wing and Lillian made no mistake from 5 yards out. The rockets showed their flexibility when several positional changes were made but all players involved slipped into their new role and within 5 minutes of the changes the rockets went 3 nil ahead, Riley won a tackle in the defensive third and after being confronted by 2 banks of players she spotted Nicole making a forward run and delicately lifted the ball beyond the 2 banks of St Albans players and to the feet of Nicole who does what she does best and put the ball in the net from 10 yards for her 2nd and the rockets 3rd.
Half time came and went and in this half Mia G became the rockets 3rd goalkeeper of the day when she replaced Kasey in the rockets goal,
Both Alex and Guste linked up extremely well on the right wing and were instrumental in a great deal of rockets attacks and with Indie on the left the rockets were able to attack freely from both sides and this was causing St Albans plenty of problems as they were getting pulled all over the pitch, The rockets 4th goal came from Guste when the rockets had the ball on the right and with 3 passes the ball fell to Indie on the left wing and she cut in and hit a sweet shot which was bravely blocked by a St Albans defender but Guste gambled and attacked the ball and as the goalkeeper came off her line Guste chested the bouncing ball up and over the onrushing keeper and headed the ball in from a yard out on 46 minutes, her reaction to the goal appeared to be one of surprise but a goal's a goal and the rockets lead had been extended to 4.
4 soon became 5 when Nicole put the St Albans defence under pressure as she did all morning and after she won possession she passed the ball to Lillian who fired past the out of position goalkeeper for 5-0.
Team captain Regan then became the rockets 4th goalkeeper of the day when she replaced Mia G in goal and Regan managed to match the previous 3 goalkeepers efforts by ensuring that no goals went past her.
Indie was very unfortunate not to score shortly before full time when again Alex sprinted down the right wing and sent over a beautiful cross which Indie brought down and with her 2nd touch she curled a shot which thundered back off of the crossbar and away to safety.
The final whistle went and the rockets came away with a clean sheet and another 3 points to add to their tally so far,
